It may be hard to believe, but 1 in 4 children in New York City do not know where their next meal is coming from. This number can be quite alarming, but organizations such as City Harvest implement programs to reduce food insecurity in the New York City area. Once again, our Early Learning Foundations Preschool is participating in the organization’s Truck or Treat program. Children are encouraged to take a “truck” box with and ask for donations to the cause while they are out trick-or-treating. Every little bit helps, .25 cents will rescue one pound of food! The participation in the Truck or Treat program not only raises money for the cause, it also starts a conversation with children about how they can help those who are less fortunate right here in our city.

The classroom with the most money raised will get a pizza party for their class! The Gymtime Foundation will match the total amount raised by Early Learning Foundations Preschool to help keep City Harvest trucks on the road, rescuing good food and delivering it to New York’s hungry.
