Jim Dine is a famous pop artist who is well-known for his heart paintings. His series of bold and colorful hearts serve as the perfect inspiration for a Valentine’s Day art project. Use this project to make valentines for your class, your friends and your family!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Construction paper
  • Sizzors
  • Oil Pastels (can be substituted with: crayons, markers, colored pencils or paints)

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  1. Cut shapes out of construction paper (depending on the age of the child, the adult should facilitate this step)
  2. Color the hearts in using oil pastels (or whichever material you decide to use). Pull up some images of Jim Dine’s work as inspiration for color themes and patterns!
