Devices today are a bit like a line from a Dr. Seuss book: They’re here, there, and everywhere. Kids are constantly clamoring to connect — but not always with us. And often we have just as much trouble putting our phones down as they do. Recent studies tell us adults check their phones over 150 times per day! What kinds of role models are we for our kids?

To better control the screens, and get kids and parents on the same page, it’s helpful to have a media agreement that lays down the guidelines for the whole family to follow. Having phone-free areas of the home is a great first step toward putting boundaries around digital media use and making sure family members can connect with each other over dinner and get enough sleep. Take the first steps to finding a healthy balance with the media in your family’s life!
