Use the star shaped cookie cutter in both of these patriotic, kid-friendly recipes.

Magic Fruit Wands

Fourth of July Fruit WandsWhat You’ll Need:

  • 1 Pint of Fresh, Organic Blueberries
  • 1 Seedless Watermelon, Sliced into 1 inch thick pieces
  • 8 Skewers
  • Star-Shaped Cookie Cutter (one per child)
What You’ll Do:
  1. Wash and dry the blueberries.
  2. Using the star cookie cutter, cut out eight watermelon stars.
  3. Skewer the bananas and the blueberries and top with the watermelon star.
Red, White and Blue Cookies
What You’ll Need:
  • 1 3/4 Cup All Purpose Flour, plus more for rolling
  • 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
  • 1/4 Teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/8 Teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • 3/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1/3 Cup Apple Sauce
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • Red and Blue Food Coloring
  • Star-Shaped Cooking Cutters
What You’ll Do:
  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt and baking powder. Slowly mix in the maple syrup, apple sauce and vegetable oil.
  3. Chill dough in the refrigerator for one hour.
  4. Flour a cutting board and a rolling pin. Roll out the dough into 1/8 inch thickness and use your star-shaped cookie cutter for your stars.
  5. Paint the dough with the blue and red food coloring.
  6. Bake for 7-8 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
