Being a part of a team is one of the best experiences for both a child’s physical and social-emotional development. Gymtime NYC has run its competitive team program for the past 10 years and since the beginning, we’ve prioritized positive relationships between coaches and team members. Being a part of a team goes beyond practice and competition and teaches young children life skills that will serve them for years to come.

A few that stand out:

  • Teamwork – Being a member of a team means participating. It means working closely with coaches, listening to instruction and feedback, then applying it. It means showing up for your teammates through encouragement and support. Our gymnasts learn how to work together, often in high-stress situations, from a very young age. These learned skills are invaluable.
  • Self-Esteem –  While positive reinforcement from parents is always valuable, as a child gets older, receiving encouragement from peers and teammates gains more importance. Our gymnasts experience both winning and losing and are collectively taught to handle both situations with grace.
  • Stronger Relationships – Screentime is a regular part of most children’s lives, making it more important than ever to emphasize activities which strengthen interpersonal skills. Being a part of a team teaches children the importance of community and camaraderie. Our gymnasts cheer each other on during the wins and support each other during the losses. We’ve seen incredible friendships emerge from our beams, bars and mats.

You’re invited to be a part of our team!
