It is essential to any early childhood program to have a strong, open communication between parents and educators. This kind of environment facilitates the exchange of ideas and plans while enhancing the program. The opportunity to create a warm and dynamic dialogue with parents must be cultivated at every turn. Parents need to feel that they are partners with the teachers in helping the child become his/her best self.

Each parent needs to feel acceptance by the teacher and view that teacher as an ally. The well-being of the child in total, can flourish when the parent and teacher have the opportunity to express concerns and ask questions. We strive to create a strong bond between the parents and the teachers to enable the creation of a wise and balanced, cooperative team.

Tips for Parents:

  • Ask questions –  Do not hesitate to ask your child’s teacher questions. This is a great way to gain an understanding of how your child acts when he’s not around you.
  • Share your opinions, knowledge and concerns – This makes for a collaborative relationship.
  • Be open to suggestions –  Work together to find solutions to problems that may arise. Early childhood educators have a great deal of experience working with children and can be used as an asset to parents.
  • Share changes going on at home – A small change that may seem insignificant to an adult, can be much more meaningful to a child. Bring any new situations to the teacher’s attention so they will understand if the child’s mood or behavior changes suddenly.
